Postage stamp-sized space

So I've got a bit of space in front of the house, and in back, and a strong urge to USE it. THe pressure is on bec/ spring is here; the mint and lemon verbena trapped indoors tell me so! Anyway, not sure I'm so handy putting a bunch of seed in paper cups and getting started that way. What it means is that I'm headed straight for a nursery to pick up a bunch of little potted something something. And the big question is -- WHAT to put in the ground? Somethings we produce, and try NOT to think about

Great article in Harpers Magazine, "Wasteland: A journey through the American cloaca" by Frederick Kaufman.

It's about what happens to all the "stuff" we produce that goes "away" when we flush. Although it's important to create means for sustainable living, it does include consideration for processes at the back end, literally and figuratively.
