Sustainable McMillan

Historic McMillan Park is threatened with senseless development if concerned activists do nothing to prevent it. A permaculture solution is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

Showing of Escape from Suburbia, March 8

There will be a showing of Escape from Suburbia hosted by Bruce Baker, 7724 Maple Ave, #13, Takoma Park, MD, 20912, Saturday, March 8, 7:30 pm. We have postponed it from March 1 because a number of people wanted to attend the talk by Wendall Berry and Bill McKibben on the first. There are a number of people who would be very open to the transition movement but have heard little about it who will hopefully be there so this is a chance to meet like minded people. A number of us have been trying to…See More

Hi Tim, thanks for coming on over. Feel free to customize your page, post questions, thoughts, articles, photos, videos, make friends, message privately, join or create groups.

We look forward to supporting your leadership in anchoring the Transition model in Takoma Park which is ripe for Transitioning. There may already be members here from TP. We've just begun work in Brookland and are building interest for Transition Bethesda. While focused on the District we also accept the responsibility to be the DC Regional Transition Center. We plan a wide range of programs next year including Transition Town training and permaculture certification and your input will be welcome. Please share your ideas, energy and passion.

We meet WEEKLY due to the enormity of the challenges and the urgency needed to address the issues that face us - Tuesdays 7 pm at Emergence Community Arts Collective, 733 Euclid Street NW, WDC 20001. We've been following a schedule something like this:
1st week - Food & Farming
2nd week - Transition
3rd week - Film
4th week - Planning & Networking
5th week when there's one - Special guest
but any can be trumped by urgent matters arising. For example, we are already thinking of devoting the first or second meeting in 2009 to building the infrastructure for an alternative local economy based on time banks and/or local currency.

Check out our film on Tuesday, Koyaanisqatsi. Our final meeting for this year will be on Tuesday Dec 23, 6 pm at The Potter's House to celebrate our time together and resolve to accomplish even more in the New Year. Come by and meet the folks.

Let's together create a brave new world.
