United By Blue and Subaru Anacostia River Cleanup at River Terrace Recreation Center

According to NOAA, 20,000 tons of trash enters "D.C.’s forgotten river" every year. Last October, United By Blue removed 3,989 pounds of trash from along the Anacostia River.On Saturday, July 21 st, Subaru and United By Blue will be hosting a river cleanup from 10 am to 2 pm. What is your motivation for joining this group?
I work for a sustainable apparel company based in Philadelphia that removes a pound of trash from oceans and waterways for every product sold. We are hosting a volunteer cleanup of the Anacostia River on the 8th and we are seeking volunteers.

On a side note, I hope to one day move to DC and get a job within the environmental field.
What are your areas of interest?
green business, natural building, organic food, urban farming, wellness

For when you move to DC, we meet twice a month due to the enormity of the challenges and the urgency needed to address the issues that face us - 1st & 3rd
Tuesdays, 7 pm at Emergence Community Arts Collective, 733 Euclid Street
NW, WDC 20001. Our programing goes something like this:
1st Tuesday - Planning, organizing, networking
3rd Tuesday - Activity, workshop, project
Committees and groups meet as needed.
