Movie Night: THE FUTURE OF FOOD at Emergence Community Arts Center, 2nd Floor

Tuesday, We'll be watching THE FUTURE OF FOOD, a film by Deorah Koons Garcia about the shady relationship between industrial agriculture, big business and government. The film also takes a look at the effects of biotechnology on small farmers to reveal and ever-present truth about genetically modified foods in our food system.

Wonderland Happy Hour at Wonderland Ballroom

November 17, 2009 from 5pm to 8pm
Instead of our usual weekly meeting, Ecolocity will join Greater DC Cares, Sierra Club and Inner City Outings for Happy Hour at Wonderland Ballroom at 1101 Kenyon Ave NW on November 17th from 5-8 pm.There is no entrance fee, and there will be food and drink specials. Want to help create an environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually fulfilling presence on Earth using principles of awareness from Awakening the Dreamer.
What skills or experience would you share? We need architects, artists, planners, scholars, farmers, web wizards, fundraisers, vintners, vegan chefs, grant writers, carpenters, beekeepers, scientists, dreamers, lobbyists - you get the idea ...
I have a BS in Environmental Sciences, completed agricultural consultants course from Brookside Farms Laboratory Association, worked on organic farms, can operate analytical and biological testing equipment, have designed anaerobic digesters for poultry & swine farms including methane powered generators, designed commercial wastewater sludge composting systems, created integrated biohumagenic systems which biologically transform waste products into humus to promote life.

We look forward to your participation in anchoring our vision with your energy and expertise as we seek to live more sustainably and equitably. We plan a wide range of programs and your input will be welcome.

We meet WEEKLY due to the enormity of the challenges and the urgency needed to address the issues that face us - Tuesdays 7 pm at Emergence Community Arts Collective, 733 Euclid Street NW, WDC 20001. We've been following a schedule something like this:
1st week - Food & Farming
2nd week - Film
3rd week - Transition
4th week - Community Building Community: Planning & Networking
5th week when there's one - Special guest
