I am interested in networking with individuals, organizations and groups who see our present circumstances as transformational opportunities. If you want to change the world then I want to listen to you. As the African proverb says: "If you wish to go fast - go alone. If you wish to go far - go together. "
BTW -- since I've already chosen my tribe in cohousing I am answering the last question as "just curious." But my interest is more than curious!
What skills or experience would you share? We need architects, artists, planners, scholars, farmers, web wizards, fundraisers, vintners, vegan chefs, grant writers, carpenters, beekeepers, scientists, dreamers, lobbyists - you get the idea ...
My background is marketing and outreach for cohousing communities. I'm a cohousing expert. And a "practical dreamer" ... I may be able to help w/ marketing ideas altho' you seem to be doing pretty well!
Hi Ann, thanks for joining us and honoring us with your presence. Feel free to customize your page, post questions, thoughts, articles, photos, videos, add cool apps, make friends, message privately, join or create groups that reflect your interests.
We look forward to your participation in anchoring our vision with your energy and expertise as we seek to live more sustainably and equitably. We plan a wide range of programs and your input will be welcome.
We meet WEEKLY due to the enormity of the challenges and the urgency needed to address the issues that face us - Tuesdays 7 pm at Emergence Community Arts Collective, 733 Euclid Street NW, WDC 20001. We've been following a schedule something like this:
1st week - Food & Farming
2nd week - Transition
3rd week - Film
4th week - Planning & Networking
5th week when there's one - Special guest
but any can be trumped by urgent matters arising. For example, we devoted the first meeting in 2009 to building the infrastructure for an alternative local economy based on time banks and/or local currency, such as Anacostia Hours in circulation in Mount Rainier.
