The capital future begins now

Our elected Howard County delegation, especially Sen. Kasemeyer, must know that we really need to pass the Maryland Offshore Wind Energy Act.  We have got to get far-sighted about getting off dirty coal and dangerous nuclear energy, the largest sources of energy for electricity in Maryland. Neither of these sources are sustainable!  Offshore wind is clean, renewable and will give us a stable cost, which is about $1.44 per month added to our electricity bills starting in 2016.

Critics have been wildly exaggerating the cost -- I've seen $9 per month with no justification whatsoever -- and of course the real costs of coal and nuclear subsidies and threat to the environment and public health are never counted for coal and nuclear.  Grr.
