The Public Banking Conference in Philly is being WEBCAST today and Tomorrow , Public Banking is about reclaiming the commons and relocalization. A bit wonky but fascinating and important!
The Maryland Public Banking Bill did not pass this session. We must try again in Jan 2013. But the Lend Local Bill did pass. It had good bipartisan support and is a step in this direction. (See facebook page for Lend Local Act - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Maryland-Business-All-business-is-lo... and article about it - http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2012/02/21/maryland-lawma... )
