I can't see a way to add an event just for our group. The nice thing about posting it to the whole community is that it gives the event more exposure. I would love more clarification about how this group is going to be used... Is it meant for discussion like a forum, or more of a way to disperse information to members?

Hi Kelsi,

This group is meant for both discussion and for dispersing information.  So I'd like to encourage everyone to post relevant information, questions and comments here.  Also, invite everyone you know who is interested in sustainability to join us.

The ultimate goal is to get a Transition Town movement going in Howard County.  So I'm interested in learning what transition areas you (and others) are most interested in.

Thanks!

Margo

Hi group!  If I've done this right, the link above will allow you to read (or download?  I don't know) a Word doc entitled A Way Forward.  In the doc I discuss the importance of recruiting new members, and present a table of several Transition Areas, and example Issues within those Areas, that will need to be addresses over the coming years.  Hopefully as our Movement grows, we can all get involved in beginning to take action in areas of interest to each of us, ASAP.

Ted, the document worked!  Not sure how you did that, smile.  I have printed it out and will read it over.   Thanks for thinking this thru!

Lore, when you are in the comment box, click on the paperclip icon at the top.  That brings up a window in which you click the "Choose File" button.  Then you can select a file just like attaching a file to an email.

Somewhere in there it says that the file will be saved as a "link".  I think this means that it will upload the file (5 MB max) to the Ecolocity server, and then leaves a link to the uploaded file as you saw in my comment.  When the link inside the comment is selected, it downloads the file to your PC, then you can do what you want with it.  It's a nice feature, well-implemented.

Margo, congratulations!  The THC NING now has 19 members.  Wow, I think you have hit a "critical mass".  When I saw your "call for volunteers" for Green Fest, I thought "why bother to post on the NING, if only a handful of people will read it".  But, with 19 . . .now we're talking!    What percentage of the people who attend THC regularly on Friday nights are using this platform?  Just curious?

Margo Duesterhaus Comment by Margo Duesterhaus on February 15, 2012 at 11:38am

Most of the regular attendees are on NING now.  A few of the spouses, including mine, are not (but obviously they hear about stuff through their SO). It's very exciting to see it growing.  Including information about THC on the CCIHC e-news blasts has definitely helped.
