The capital future begins now

There have been thousands of experiments with community currencies over the last 25 years all over the world. A few have been very successful, many have failed. What lessons can we learn?

1. Pay attention to local goals.
2. Analyse local operating conditions, problems, needs and assets.
3. Design your currency mechanism around the above.
4. Create an effective organisation to run the currency with sound governance and efficient management systems.

We have created a development process for new community currency systems which you can see here: www.valueforpeople.co.uk/process

For an overview of CC systems worldwide see my article in Portugal's IM magazine here:

Good luck with your endeavours!

Hi Mark, well I've tried Berrett Koehler in the US and a load of UK publishers without success - can't see how to market it! So I am going to feed more and more bits of the book into my website and maybe publish a newer full version when I get some graphics together. Any great graphic designers out there with a passion to spread best practice in community currencies?
