Event Description
Petworth Community Market opens Friday June 25th, 3-7 pm, on 9th Street NW between Taylor and Upshur, right off Georgia, 4 blocks from the Metro. Join us for fresh local produce, artisan baked goods, micro-roasted coffee, fun and music. Vendor space still available: petworthmarket@gmail.com.
This is the only farmers market in Ward 4. Ecolocity has taken the lead in setting this up. We have been approached to assist in starting markets in Ward 5 on Rhode Island Avenue, and in NoVa at Marymount University.

This is fantastic. I'll be there with my shopping bags ready to meet our local farmers, bakers and artists. See you all there.

Over 10 vendors and business have signed up for the inaugural 2010 market season with more expressing interest on a daily basis. Participating vendors for this season include Barajas Produce, Kilmer's Farm, Atwater’s Bakery, G Flores Produce, Orchards Estates, Great Harvest Bread Company, Praline Bakery, Teaco, Dangerous Pies, C&T Produce, Qualia Coffee, and Corehaus. Local professional DJ, “The Unknown,” will provide musical entertainment, the Bikehouse a bicycle repair clinic, and graffiti artist Jazirock graffiti art demonstrations. The market will be open every Friday from 3 PM to 7 PM through late October.
Congrats and a big hand to Jennifer Lehman and other Ecolocity folks who helped to make this happen.
Correction: This is the only other market in Ward 4, the other being in Chevy Chase, just inside the Ward.
