Choosing Renewable Energy
with
Professor Ross Salawitch, U of Maryland.
Prof. Salawitch will explain how rising levels of atmospheric CO2 affect the climate and how society might meet its energy needs without adding to the CO2 burden. Learn the pros and cons of producing and using of various types of renewable energy and their environment, economics, and required land resources effects. Prof. Salawitch will conclude by describing local grass roots efforts to develop renewable energy, including some notable successes and some unfortunate set backs.
Refreshments will be served at 3:00. Then, at 3:30, Emphasis/Action workshops will be presented and include: Think Globally, Act Locally, with Prof. Ross Salawitch, How to Influence Corporate Policy with Tom McCarthy, and Renewable, Clean Energy: The Power of Offshore Wind with Margo Duesterhaus. The Earth Forum is free and open to all. .
