Acoustic guitarist Paul Doffing’s 5,500 mile Freedom From Fuel Tour comes to DC!

Paul Doffing is touring the US on bicycle to promote alternative transportation. He is working to inform 

people about climate science, encourage people to get on their bikes and to reduce their dependence on 

fossil fuels.

In June, Paul Doffing, an independent acoustic 

musician from the Twin Cities, began his first US Tour - the “Freedom From Fuel Tour.” Unlike most 

music tours he isn't traveling in a van or tour bus. Over the course of 100 days, a touring bicycle will 

carry him over 5,000 miles to shows in 30 cities with his guitar and camping gear in tow. So far he has 

traveled more than 2,000 miles and played 12 concerts as he pedaled across the northern US. 

 Since the release of his debut album, Blossom is You, Paul Doffing’s “magical" six- and 12-string 

instrumentals and “down-to-earth, universal lyric work” have been capturing audiences throughout the 

United States. “It doesn’t hurt Doffing that he’s a virtuoso acoustic guitarist, playing canyon-deep chords 

and fingerpicking tastefully and effortlessly. When he does exercise the pipes, his weary, Neil 

Young-meets-Damien Jurado tone evinces more gravity than any lyric sheet could ever muster.”

  We live in a time when the global economic demand for fossil fuels is producing some of the 

most destructive and greenhouse gas rich refinement processes the planet has ever seen. We 

have seen countless climate records shattered already this year and we need to make every effort to look 

thoroughly at the trend we are seeing. Paul believes that we cannot rely on government mandates alone 

to safeguard our planet. Our good stewardship as individuals is the key to preserving our home.
